Us Bedding Sizes Ftc Labelling

US bedding compliance surprises buyers in two places: sizes that do not match what the catalogue promised and a care label that does not survive a retailer audit.

Sizes are not as standard as the catalogue implies

Queen and King are conventions, not regulations. Mattress depths have increased over the last decade, and a fitted sheet cut to a depth that was normal ten years ago will not stay on a current mattress. This is the single most common cause of returns in the category.

  • Queen fitted sheet: 152 x 203 cm, pocket depth 38 cm as our standard cut
  • King fitted sheet: 193 x 203 cm, pocket depth 38 cm
  • Standard pillowcase: 51 x 76 cm. King pillowcase: 51 x 102 cm

Confirm the mattress depth you are selling against before agreeing a cut. A 2 cm difference in pocket depth is the difference between a return and a repeat order.

The care label is a legal document

The US care labelling rule requires a permanent label with washing, bleaching, drying and ironing instructions, in the order set by the regulation, and it must remain legible for the life of the product. A label that fades after ten washes is a compliance failure even if the content was correct on day one.

  • Ask for the label stock specification, not just the artwork. Adhesive and ink matter more than layout.
  • Ask for a wash-test result on the finished label, not on the raw material.
  • Keep a retained sample per order. In a dispute, the retained label settles the question.

Where we sit

We cut to the depth you specify and confirm it in writing with the quotation. Care labels are applied in production and checked at the packing gate. Tell us the retailer you are supplying and we will confirm what the pack needs before the order is placed.
